What do you intend to offer to your customers?
ALREADY HAVE A PRODUCT OR SERVICE?
If you already have a product or service, then the question
is whether or not it will be readily promoted online.
If not, you may have to spend a little more time and/or
money to effectively drive traffic to your site. For example,
this Internet Marketing site is what most safelist users
are interested in. So, therefore, it is easy, inexpensive,
and cost-effective to promote.
It pretty much sells itself, but some of our other companies
(web hosting, travel agencies, etc) have required several
thousands of dollars in startup marketing expenditures
and requires a hefty monthly marketing budget during its
growth phase.
So, if your product or service isn't performing the way
you like, keep in mind that it could simply be the methods
you use to promote it. It could be that your ads themselves
need tweaking or it may be that your entire method of
advertising needs to be evaluated for reaching your intended
audience. For more on that topic, please read:
My product isn't selling. Is it the product or is it my
approach?
LOOKING FOR IDEAS OF WHAT TO OFFER?
Basically, as you probably gathered from the previous
paragraphs, the easiest "sells" on the Internet
are anything related to making money. This was the case
when the Internet began to become commercialized and still
holds true today. So, that means that anything relating
to:
- Traffic boosting programs involving one or multiple
forms of advertising (classified ads, ffa pages, owning
your own ffa page, automated search engine submission,
etc)
- Online MLM/Matrix/Downline builders *includes multi-level
affiliate programs
- other safelists
Probably a close second to those would be the commodities
that everyone needs to run an online business and that
includes:
- Domain Registrations
- Web Hosting
- Web Page Design
The main drawback to advertising these types of businesses
online is the sheer number of competitors that are already
out there and the fact that the "web hosting directories"
charge so much for listings. These are necessary for link
popularity (as many are uneffective at driving targeted
sales leads), but they charge anywhere from $25-$500 per
month for a listing! And the ones that only offer Pay-per-click
[PPC] programs tend to require $0.50-$1.50 per click to
be seen and visited. That's outrageous, but the big players
in the industry are paying it. So, that leaves the little
guys on the sidelines.
